Checkout Bodee’s, an Ojai Original

Thursday, October 6, 2005

Bodee’s restaurant at 3304 Maricopa Highway in Ojai (2.5 miles north of the “Y”), is again open for business. Executive Chef Christopher Watson describes his cuisine as “passionately flavorful.”

Dinner hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday; lunch is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Enjoy a lush, waterscaped garden environment nestled into the wooded hillside.
Or, relax on the fireside patio for a unique, casual and tranquil alfresco dining experience.

Indoors, the air-conditioned restaurant is adorned with rich dark wood-paneled walls, the original brick fireplace hearth, and custom designed high back plush fabric and leather seating.

Bodee’s menu offers choice for every taste whether it’s a 20 oz. Certified Angus beef porterhouse steak or a vegetarian lentil roulade. For starters, the guacamole with avocadoes from its own ranch is a treat. The yellowfin tuna tartar, barbeque duck confit quesadilla, and Caesar salad are also tasty.

Entrees include fabulous steaks like rib eye, porterhouse, NY strip and filet mignon. Or try chicken breast stuffed with walnuts and gorgonzola, the barbeque baby back ribs, wild salmon with caper dill sauce, or a delicious pasta offering. After dinner, complete your feast with a Bodee’s signature dessert.

Beyond the menu, Bodee’s offers “off-the-boat” specials. Thick swordfish steaks caught off the Channel Islands from Bodee’s own boat are among the nightly enticements.

Furthermore, Bodee’s offers an exceptional chef-selected international wine list from champagnes and sparkling white whines to varietal whites, roses, reds, and dessert wines —
over 60 to choose from.

Lunch is a casual time to sit out by the patio and enjoy the Ojai countryside. Those who opt for lunch at Bodee’s can select from breakfast items such as a make-your-own omelet or Belgian waffle with strawberries.

Or, select a more traditional lunch such as a build-your-own burger, pastrami or tri-tip sandwich served with house fries, barbeque chicken wrap, or a selection from the salad menu.

Kids are welcome at Bodee’s; a special kids menu is available with treats prepared just for their young palates.

Michele Cromer-Bentivolio, Doc Bodee’s granddaughter as well as the entire Cromer family are dedicated to providing a unique and memorable dining experience. They hope those who visit Bodee’s will start making it a part of their family’s tradition. For more information or for reservations, call 646-5300.
